About the company

A British manufacturing company since 1977.

In 1977 Dale Pressings (DEMO / CONCEPT) was incorporated and began with sub-contract metal pressings, running alongside Dale Toolroom (DEMO / CONCEPT). Since then the company has grown, and the main business is manufacturing scaffold board end bands and nail plates. They pride themselves on quality and delivery, and on a first-class service.

That paragraph is close to the wording the old website used for years. The fuller account, from the company’s own descriptions since, is that the bands, batten bands and nail plates go to the UK, Europe and further afield, each job made to the customer rather than pulled from a single stock pattern.

It is a third-generation family works. Founder Owen Marsh’s granddaughter, Ella Marsh, has been managing director since 2019. Her mother, Nora Marsh, stayed on as company secretary and director. The homepage introduces them by first name — Ella, Nora, Owen, the workshop, and the office dog.

2022

Faster presses, shorter week

Nearly £100,000 of Bruderer servo feeds go onto the press line. Reported output rose from 15.6 million to 17.5 million bands, and the works moved to a four-day week on full pay.

People, then output

In 2022 the works fitted servo feeds in place of air feeds. Setup got quicker, jams and wasted strip dropped, and one surplus line came out. The published result was more bands from a four-day week, with Friday kept as a day off and pay left whole. Ella Marsh has been plain that the point of the investment was the people on the presses, not a bigger building.
